Morning rituals are considered to be an important part of living a healthy lifestyle these days and in this post, I'd like to share one part of my daily ritual with you that I feel has worked in supporting my health and keeping me hydrated and internally fresh and clean.
I would say that drinking 16-32 oz water with lemon first thing in the morning is just as important as taking a shower! it's a must in getting your body and mind awake, energized and ready to support you during the day. This is your internal shower!
As well jazzing up a regular tasting glass of water, I would even go as far as to say that Water with lemon, hot or cold, provides the basis of making good food choices and positive thoughts for the rest of the day. What you put into your body and also in your mind (for those of you who reach for your phone as soon as you open your eyes!) first thing in the morning, is super important. So starting your day with a hydrating beverage that is rich in Vitamin C and minerals and that aids in cleansing, flushing and gently waking up your body, is a better option than a glass of sweet orange juice, that will spike insulin levels and lead to more sugar cravings, or a bitter cup of coffee that can be dehydrating and maybe even leave you jittery, anxious or hyper. This simple and doable ritual will do wonders for the elasticity of skin, can aid in digestion and constipation, helps to cleanse the blood, hydrate your cells and improve the overall function of your organs. So give it a try and let me know what changes for you! If you are already doing it, then be consistent or try it hot instead of cold and see what changes for you. Go from 16 oz to 32 oz and see what happens then. There is always room for improvement and consistency. This simple ritual can change your life, if you give it a chance. Enjoy your day!
